Tips for Getting a Roll Off Dumpster Rental

If you work in construction of any sort, you already know that you need a construction dumpster for your site. You cannot just toss your construction debris around or leave it on the curb, and no amount of trash bags can keep your site clean and orderly. Typically there are many things that need to be thrown away that are too large for any other container, so a dumpster rental is a must.

However getting a construction dumpster is also a good idea for those who are working on renovating their own home, even if they're just doing one room. Imagine trying to use garbage bags for those kitchen cabinets or bathroom fixtures or tiles you pull up! So a dumpster rental is always a good idea even for residential home remodeling.

For very large jobs, a roll-off dumpster is recommended. This is a dumpster that is delivered to the job site by a special flat bed truck which raises its back end to roll off the dumpster and put it into place, hence the name. The truck would then retrieve the dumpster as well, sliding that flat bed underneath it and hoisting it back onto the truck. A roll-off dumpster is often used for sites where there will be a large amount of debris such as commercial construction or disaster recovery. This is because they're typically easier to haul away than other forms of dumpsters and they can be larger as well, usually up to thirty feet long.

If you're considering a dumpster rental for your construction site or even your home remodeling job, be sure to start shopping early. Make sure the company from whom you rent the construction dumpster will handle emptying it and hauling it away for you. Check on pricing and how often they can come out with a new construction dumpster if it's going to be a large job. Many commercial construction sites use several dumpsters that are replaced or emptied every day, but for a project at your home you may need to have just one dumpster rental for several days.

You also need to consider how much debris you think you'll produce with your project. If you're new to this, talk to the dumpster rental company about your project in particular. If your office building is undergoing renovations, as an example, estimate the square footage of the area being worked on and the work itself - will it include walls, kitchen cabinets, and bathroom fixtures? Obviously this will need a larger construction dumpster than if your renovation simply includes carpeting. Those who are in the dumpster rental business are usually very skilled at estimating the amount of area you'll need when it comes to your dumpster.

And remember that typically a larger dumpster or a roll-off dumpster will be better than underestimating the space you'll need. It's always better to have too much dumpster space than not enough, and be stuck with debris that cannot be hauled away!
