Labor Day is on the horizon and let’s face it, we all love to grill up some hot dogs and hamburgers while we kick our feet up on this wonderful holiday. Have you ever wondered why we celebrate this holiday or do you just see it as another day off? How about a history lesson?

Beginning in the late 19th century, as the trade union and labor movements grew, trade unionists proposed that a day be set aside to celebrate labor. “Labor Day” was promoted by the Central Labor Union and the Knights of Labor, which organized the first parade in New Your City. In 1887, Oregon was the first state to make it an official public holiday. By the time it became an official federal holiday in 1894, 30 US states officially celebrated Labor Day. –Wikipedia
